Modules

Module 1
Kōwae Tuatahi

Developing Independance

Module 1 is all about building your awareness of potential risks you could be faced with as you go through life. Building skills and strategies to keep yourself and those your care for safe and healthy is so important. This module focuses on a range of super-relevant stuff, from fake online information to alcohol/drugs, to road safety. Wherever you’re beginning your journey, this module helps you develop the awareness and skills to be a confident young person.

Module 2
Kōwae Tuarua

My Future Pathways

Module 2 is all about being strategic about your future career. You will learn and practice research methods to gather information that can help you plan your future direction. Whether you have no idea what you want to do (totally normal!) or you are set on a career path, this module develops skills that will provide you with opportunities now and in the future; being able to research, know what valid and reliable information is, and make decisions for yourself, with your research in mind.

Module 3
Kōwae TuaToru

Being Work Ready

Module 3 is all about learning and experiencing what the 'workplace' actually look like. Whether you've had a job, currently work, or have never worked, this module provides opportunities to explore different workplaces. Our student's favourite part... you go on a REAL work experience placement (organised by us - unless you want to do that part yourself, no stress). Knowing how to manage your time, communicate with a range of people in the workplace, and being professional are other key themes in this module.

Module 4
Kōwae TuaWhā

Participation in Aotearoa

Module 4 is all about you and the society YOU are a part of - within Aotearoa. By researching real case studies, real statistics, and real news reports you will unlock a new way of viewing how everything works. Ever wondered how the right to free speech, or how the very fact the law exists, affects you? This module is about opening your eyes to your place within Aotearoa, and the rights, responsibilities, limitations, and opportunities we all have, living in this country.

Every module also embeds learning in the following areas:

  • Employability skills
  • Language, literacy and numeracy
  • Digital skills
  • Cultural literacy
